Hideo Matsushita, deeply moved by the emotional connection people experienced during vinyl listening sessions at the Bridgestone Museum of Arts in Tokyo, founded Audio-Technica in 1962. His goal was to make the warmth of analog listening accessible to a wider audience. Starting in a small Shinjuku apartment, he developed the successful AT-1 and AT-3 cartridges, leading to the establishment of the company's headquarters in Machida, where it remains today.

Driven by a passion for authentic sound, Audio-Technica has expanded to create highly regarded headphones, turntables, and microphones. As a family-run business, the company maintains its commitment to providing high-quality audio for everyone. While still producing popular phono cartridges, Audio-Technica's core philosophy centers on reproducing natural and accurate sound. Utilizing analog transducer technology, they aim to elevate sensory experiences and deliver pure audio. This pursuit of sonic perfection is ongoing.
